"I'm lucky.

I've always happened to be at the right place at the right time."

Vera Neumann (1907-1993)

Vera believed in art’s ability to inspire and enrich our lives.

An innovator and one of the most successful female entrepreneurs of her time, she had a radical philosophy: fine art should be accessible to everyone, not just a select few.

She began her business at her kitchen table in 1946 and by the 1970’s had created a multi-million dollar business.

Her unique, personally designed products (scarves, linens, apparel and more) were found in most American homes and in stores worldwide.

She had a following as varied as her products:

First Lady Bess Truman selected Vera designs to decorate the White House.

Marilyn Monroe draped herself in Vera scarves for her last photography shoot.

Celebrity Fans included John Lennon, & Grace Kelly.

By the time of her death, Vera’s designs spanned five decades with over 8,000 copyrights documented in the Library of Congress.

Her work was shown at countless galleries including:

A MOMA exhibition.

The Metropolitan Museum of Art collection

Honored by a Smithsonian retrospective in 1972.

Vera Neumann was the first “superwoman”… wife, mother, entrepreneur, world traveler and artist.
