“Vera will be Vera forever.” ~Vera Neumann
Before Vera Wang…before Vera Bradley … there was just Vera. Vera was everywhere and everyone recognized her distinctive cursive signature with a little ladybug.
The Vera brand is a celebration of the lifework of famed artist, tastemaker, entrepreneur, and American fashion industry icon Vera Neumann. Known for her bright florals, bold geometrics, scenic motifs, and other cheerful designs, Vera built her iconic brand and pioneering cross-licensing empire by making her art affordable and accessible to everyone through a wide range of products (not just for hanging on walls).
Thanks to Vera’s timeless designs and enduring influence as one of the most beloved, respected, and influential female entrepreneur’s of her era, Vera remains and inspiration and champion of everyday fashion to generations of designers and devoted fans. She had a love for art in all forms and appreciated many other artists such as her dear friend Alexander Calder, and designer Perry Ellis who got his sportswear start working for Vera.
Every Vera design is based on an original painting and Vera’s work can be found in the collections of New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art as well as the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA). Her work has also been the subject of exhibitions at the Smithsonian Institute, Fashion Institute of Technology, Alexander Gray Associates, and numerous art galleries over the years.
Her products have been carried in a multitude of stores from her first retail order in the 1940s by Altman & Co. through to recent features by Anthropologie, Brighton, Target, Clinique, and others. Her designs have been worn on screen from everything like Gossip Girl, The Today Show, and The Tyra Banks Show. The Vera licensing program already includes active licensees producing beautiful scarves, bedding, pillows, blankets, curtains, umbrellas, wallets, handbags, bags, luggage accessories, travel accessories/sets, closet storage, shelf liners and t-shirts but the possibilities remain endless!
